Zodiak Kids announces today a host of sales for its animated pre-school show Kody Kapow. Produced by Zodiak Kids Studios, Kody Kapow is set to be an international hit with sales across Europe and the Middle East already under its martial arts belt.
Commissioned for Sprout, the daily preschool block on Universal Kids – NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s network for Kids 2-12 – the 52 x 11’ show has been picked up in Europe by SVT (Sweden), DeAgostini (Italy), Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals SA for their Super3 channel (Spain) and AMC Networks International Iberia for their Spanish channel Canal Panda.
Elsewhere Kody Kapow has sold to Indonesian agent Spectrum and Discovery Kids (Middle East and North Africa) following its US premiere earlier this summer.
Delphine Dumont, SVP of Sales & Co-Productions – Zodiak Kids commented: “These sales tell us that there is an appetite for content with strong storylines built on universal life lessons for upper preschoolers. The diversity of characters and the humour throughout makes for a very appealing show which resonate with both children and parents watching along with them. We are looking forward to sharing Kody Kapow with international audiences this autumn and beyond.”
Kody Kapow launched as a breakout hit for Universal Kids this summer. The pre-school show has performed well for both linear and online platforms, as the series accounted for 31% of total traffic to the Universal Kids app for the month of July and is one of the top 5 series in kids 2-5 on the channel.
Kody Kapow is about an aspiring martial arts-style superhero named Kody who spends the summer with his extended family in a small village in China. His grandfather, a martial arts master, teaches Kody ancient lessons of mindfulness, patience and perseverance, which Kody employs as he and his super spy cousin Mei set off on adventures in the village together with their tiger friend Goji, voiced by Jason Alexander in the US.
